The Dunn County Sheriff's office has announced that an arrest has been made in the death of Mary K. Schlais, who was found dead by the side of the road in Spring Book Township on Feb. 15, 1974.
Schlais was from Minneapolis and was hitchhiking from Minneapolis to Chicago to attend an art show at the time she disappeared. At the time an eyewitness observed Schais and a suspect and car together.
Improvements in DNA testing have made it possible to identify a suspect. The Dunn County Sheriff's Office has been working with Ramapo College in Mahwah, NJ to identify the viable suspect.
On Nov. 7 Sheriff's Office investigators arrested Jon K. Miller(84) of Owatonna, MN for the murder of Mary K. Schlais. He is currently in custody in Minnesota and awaiting extradition to Wisconsin.
