Nobody ever said this was going to be easy.

A few updates. First, we're still looking for writers, artists, photographers, and videographers who want to work for Eye On Dunn County. These are freelance positions as independent contractors. You won't get rich but can be part of a team trying to preserve local news in Dunn County. Please email me at [email protected] of you are interested.

I have been working on improving our coverage of elections, both locally and nationally. In addition to our access to Associated Press stories Eye On Dunn County has also been accepted in the Knight Election Hub, which will give us access to other election resources.

We have been working on connections with nonprofits and organizations in the area. In the next few months you can look forward to reports on a regular basis from the Russell J. Rassbach Museum and the libraries in Dunn County. One of our goals is community building and providing a voice to organizations that are having trouble getting the word out about the good work they are doing. If you represent one of those organizations I would love to talk to you.

I will attend the Independent News Sustainability Summit in Chicago next week, and hope to pick up information on keeping Eye On Dunn County in business. These conferences are run by LION Publishers, and are always worthwhile. I am particularly excited to be taking the new Borealis train from Red Wing to Chicago to attend.

You may have noticed on the front page that Eye On Dunn County is now a member of the Wisconsin Newspaper Association and the Dunn County Area Chamber of Commerce. I am looking forward to productive interactions with both organizations.
