Chippewa County COVID-19 cases double in three weeks

In a briefing today Chippewa County Health Director Angie Weideman expressed concern about the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the county. Currently, there have been 200 confirmed cases in the county. Half of these cases have been recorded in the past three weeks, so the pace of infections has increased greatly. The county is currently rating the risk level in the county as "high". The data for the community testing at the fairgrounds last week are not yet available as a report but are included in the current county and state numbers. The recent testing in the Stanley correctional facility showed no positive tests.

Due to the high risk, the county is currently recommending indoor meetings be limited to 15 people indoors and 25 people outdoors. Weideman was asked about how it is possible to open schools if those are the current recommendations, to which she replied "I am concerned for schools and for safety. I do think the schools have done the best they possibly can in preparing" and cited steps such as cleaning, small cohorts, etc.
