The Eau Claire City-County Health Department continues to follow the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation as it develops. It was just announced from the Governor’s Office that public and private K-12 schools across Wisconsin will close beginning Wednesday March 18th at 5:00 pm for a two week period. At this time, schools are expected to reopen after this closure, but the situation will be reevaluated in the case that closure is recommended for a longer period.

We understand that this creates a lot of community concern and we also have a lot of concern about the impacts to our community. Though this decision is not based on sound information, we are shifting to support our schools and employers as they work with their students, families, and employees. This is a very challenging situation that will impact many people in our community. Please know that the health and safety of all community members remains our highest priority.

If you have questions, please email us at [email protected] or call the COVID-19 phone line at 715-839-4725.
