Doing Your Part: What Menomonie Property Owners Need to Know About Upkeep

The City of Menomonie is issuing this public notice to remind residents and property owners of their responsibilities under local ordinances concerning property maintenance.

This notice serves as an official notification in accordance with city code and is considered one of the required notices.

Excessive Lawn Height (Title 5, Chapter 1, Section 4F) All lawns and boulevards within the city must be maintained at a height not exceeding nine inches (9"). If a lawn exceeds 9” in height, the property owner will be mailed a notice allowing them five days to comply with the city ordinance or a citation will be issued.

Grass Clippings in Streets (Title 7, Chapter 1, Section 4A) Grass clippings are not allowed to be blown into the street, curb, ditch or storm drain. This can cause hazardous conditions for pedestrians, bicyclists and motorcyclists. Grass clippings are nutrient rich and will pollute our waterways if sent down our storm drains. Grass clippings should be blown back on your lawn, composted or brought to the City Solid Waste Site for composting. The City of Menomonie is committed to maintaining a clean and safe environment for all residents.

Property owners are urged to comply with these ordinances to avoid penalties. For more information on these and other city codes, please view the official City Code at https://codelibrary.amlegal.com/codes/menomoniewi/latest/overview.
