On August 29, 2024, at 6:29 PM, Eau Claire Police Officers responded to a residence in the 400 block of Gilbert Avenue for a check welfare.

Upon arrival, Officers located a deceased female. It was determined she sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Members of the Eau Claire Police Department processed the crime scene and collected evidence with the assistance of the Wisconsin State Patrol. On August 30, 2024, an autopsy was conducted by a forensic pathologist at Ramsey Medical Center in St. Paul, MN. Complete results of the full autopsy are still pending.

The victim has been identified as Michelle L. Jenkins (56 years old).

At this time, Detectives are conducting extensive interviews and continuing to gather additional information. The suspect or suspects have not yet been identified.

The loss of life in such a manner deeply impacts our community. The men and women of the Eau Claire Police Department are fully committed to resolving this matter. We extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and all those affected by this senseless act.
