The weather last night was a doozy. There are scattered trees down all around the county and from social media reports it appears the Downsville/Irvington area was hit particularly hard with high winds.
I got up this morning to find my Downsville area front yard full of tree branches. I am currently trying to figure out the best way to deal with this, but it can wait till the heat advisory ends. Fortunately, the only damage to my house was that one of the branches broke my pellet stove vent, though it looks like that will be easy to repair.
Most of the damage reports I have seen are from the Downsville area and the area around the Red Cedar Clinic in Menomonie. Power has been out in many areas around the county with reports of trees on power lines in some places. Be cautious, as some trees may still be on power lines. Dunn County Energy is still reporting several hundred homes without power in the county.
The city has advised that Point Comfort Park (also known as Butch's Bay) is closed because there are trees down in the roads. SImilarly some of the Red Cedar Trail is closed today because of downed trees.
Meanwhile the heat advisory for Dunn County continues today for the 4th of July activities. It is currently 91 degrees in Menomonie and increasing, with high humidity. If you are going out to celebrate today please take care to stay cool and hydrated.
