This is a transfer of up to $2 million so the transfer can be done before July 31. Fund 46 is being depleted quickly so this will allow the board to continue doing capital improvement and receive more state aid. The transfer was approved unanimously.

DISCUSSION ITEMS/POLICY REVIEW

Discuss/Consider Temporary Construction Easement and Option to Purchase Agreement with City of Menomonie for potential Municipal Well(s) at Menomonie High School

One of the possible sites for the new water treatment plant and well is on school district property. This would be a purchase of approximately 5 acres. This would initially be a construction easement to drill a test well, and an option to purchase if they decide this is the location where the city wants to locate the well. Dr. Zadowsky stated that the amount of space and the location would not likely cause issues with further use of the site by the school district. The well test would take approximately two  months. The board informally decided to not agree for the time being but to allow the city to come back again with a  proposal if the sites at Phelan and Wakanda Parks are not workable.

Board Member Update on Community Engagement Sessions and Referendum Exploration

Much of the discussion with the community has been in favor of finding ways to increase revenue rather than cutting school services. Some of the meetings were not as well attended as the board would have liked but it is difficult to get people to turn out in the summer.

Discuss Referendum Resolution for November 5 Election

An interesting discussion took place on strategy for a new attempt at a school referendum vote in November. Please watch the video to learn more. Further work will be done on what the correct number will be for a proposal, and the various details. If the board wants this on the Nov. 5 ballot it will need to be decided in the August 12 meeting.
