In a press release just sent out by the City of New Richmond, the city announced that ICA has withdrawn their request for rezoning for an ICE detention facility in the city. The city recently produced a staff report on the request, and after obtaining the report ICA withdrew. According to the press release

Today, prior to publishing the Development Review Committee (staff) report related to the Immigration Centers of America (ICA) application, the City of New Richmond shared a draft copy of the report with ICA and their representatives.

After reviewing the staff report, ICA communicated to the City that they have decided to officially withdraw the rezoning application.

Due to ICA’s decision, the community conversation scheduled for April 23rd at WITC has officially been cancelled.

The City of New Richmond is still sharing the Development Review Committee’s (staff) analysis on the application submitted by ICA.
