It's summer in the Chippewa Valley, which can only mean one thing - Music Festivals. There will be no Eaux Claires this summer, but that won't mean there's any shortage of music. Two are coming up in the next few weeks, and they're some of my personal favorites.
The Blue Ox Music Festival runs June 13-15, bringing you some of the best in Bluegrass and related genres. This year's lineup includes Pert Near Sandstone, Trampled by Turtles, The Del McCoury Band, and a whole lot more.
The following week we get the spectacular Northwoods Blues Festival, which this year has moved from the Northern Wisconsin Fairground down to the new Riverfront Park in Chippewa Falls. See JoyAnn Parker, Savoy Brown, Corky Siegel, and a raft of other great blues performers. There will be after-parties, and shuttles from Loopy's and other places to make it easy to attend and to stretch out the festival experience.
Of course some of the other continuing music series in the valley continue throughout the summer including Sounds Like Summer, Tuesday Night Blues, and Music over Menomin. Let us know what else you're going to see, and what you are looking forward to for the rest of the summer.
