The coronavirus pandemic continues to spread alarmingly throughout the country and Wisconsin. Although we have not reached a crisis level in the Chippewa Valley, the numbers are not great. As of today we've had 61 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Dunn County, 48 of which are considered to have recovered. Fortunately we have not yet experienced any deaths. In Eau Claire County there have been 371 cases, and one death. State-wide the numbers are definitely not improviing (see below graphs).
Many large store chains have recently announced that they will be requiring that all customers wear masks while in their stores. Locally it has only been Menards that has required this locally (of the large chains) until recently. In the past few days there have been announcements from
Target
Dollar Tree (apparently rescinded yesterday and they now only "ask" that customers wear masks)
Also -- a quick note in the shameless commerce department. You can rock one of our new WisCommunity face masks (ON SALE!) or a coffee cup, water bottle, and more by making a visit to our Swag Store. Stylish products, and they support local journalism.
