Menomonie School Board Meeting for 4/25/2022

There will be two meetings on Monday Night - the first will be the yearly special reorganization meeting followed by the actual school board meeting.

4. Election of Board Officers

Dominique Stewart and Charlie Schneider were nominated for president. Paper ballots were cast.. Charlie Schneider was elected 5-4.

The only nominee for VP was Karl Palmer - he was elected as VP.

Rachel Henderson and Tanya Husby were nominated for treasurer. 5-4 in favor of Rachel Henderson who will be treasurer.

Board Clerk - Abe Smith was nominated for clerk. There were no other nominations. Smith was voted in unanimously.

5. Approve Committee Assignments of Board Members

6. Appoint Deputy Clerk

7. Set Date and Venue for Annual Meeting

8. Establish Starting Times for Regular, Special, and Committee of the Whole Meetings

Meetings will now be held at 5:45 but may later be moved until 6 PM and have board members be available for discussion from 5:30 to 6.

B. Review 2021-2022 Professional Development Needs Assessment Survey Report

Once every three years the SDMA conducts a Professional Development Needs Assessment Survey as one of the ways the district gathers input from staff to help inform the professional development planning process. The 2021-2022 PD Needs Assessment Survey opened on Thursday, March 24, 2022, and remained open through Tuesday, April 5, 2022. A total of 191 SDMA staff responded to at least one survey question.

 

Over the next three years, professional development and training activities prioritized for development and delivery are:

• Assessment
  • The use of EduCLIMBER (data warehouse tool).
  • Development and use of formative and summative assessments.

• Instructional Strategies
  • Addressing challenging student behaviors.

• Social & Emotional Learning (SEL)/Mental Wellness
  • Meeting the needs of struggling learners.
  • Student de-escalation strategies.
  • Staff mental wellness.

• Instructional Framework
  • What I Need (WIN) Time.
  • Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and inclusionary practices.
  • Leveraging Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
  • Mindfulness in the Classroom.

• Content Area Standards
  • Continue to support staff with the implementation and increased familiarity with the use of content area standards as part of the three phase rollout of the WI Academic Standards.

• Additional areas to be prioritized for professional development as related to the items above where possible.
  • Specialized professional development activities by content areas and departments related to standards, assessment, and reporting (report cards).
  • Vertical collaboration time by departments centered around assessment and data analysis.
  • Training on the role of paraeducators in relation to assessment.
  • Vertical alignment.
  • Intervention strategies and filling learning gaps.

C. Review 2021-2022 Budget Revisions

D. Review Strategic Planning Goals and Major Activities for 2021-2022

 

The Board will review and discuss progress on the SDMA Strategic Planning Goals and the District Work Plan for 2021-2022.
