What do they all have in common?  Not a damn thing my friend, nothing. The first two are in bed together but there is no room for you, especially if you are an expert in your field.  Allow me to elaborate.

The Supreme Court recently ruled that the Chevron decision, which has been the law of the land for forty years, no longer applies. The Chevron decision provided that experts in administrative agencies were best able to make decisions about how a law passed by Congress should be carried out so that it fulfilled the intended purpose.

The Supreme Court, that bastion of technological expertise, said that lawmakers and judges, not agency experts, should decide how best to carry out laws. All one needs to do is remember the response to COVID 19 to see the wisdom of that.  I jest, of course.  Without the medical experts at the CDC we’d all be injecting bleach up our butts, shining bright lights at each other and taking horse medicine.

And where does WMC fit into the equation?  Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce is generally opposed to all regulations because it interferes with their members’ ability to make money at any cost to real people. They applauded the Supreme Court decision.

How might this affect you?  Take baby loungers.  On May 25, 2023, NBC reported on babies being suffocated in their loungers. Many babies have suffocated in cribs with side cushions earlier.  The Consumer Product Safety Commission is responsible for creating regulations for safe products.  In this age of attack all regulations, do you want some manufacturer to challenge the safety regulations for the things your baby uses and get away with producing dangerous cribs, loungers, strollers, play pens that could injure or harm your baby?

If a person needed another example of how the GOP circumvents the will of, and the good of, the people, they need look no further.  And if a person needed another reason to elect Democrats to the state Legislature, they need look no further for that either.
