Election officials from three western Wisconsin counties and one township will talk about how they safeguard election integrity at a public forum on Thursday, July 25, 6-7:30 p.m. in the Menomonie City Council meeting room, 800 Wilson Avenue. The meeting is in collaboration with the League of Women Voters – Greater Chippewa Valley.
Speakers are Dunn County Clerk Andrew Mercil (D), Eau Claire County Clerk Sue McDonald (D), Polk County Clerk Shabana Lundeen (R), and the town of Spring Brook clerk. Topics include:
· Triple checking of the vote count (by machine, by Municipal Board of Canvass, by County Board of Canvass). Includes demonstration of a voting machine
· Absentee Ballots (How are they verified? Requirements?)
· Drop Boxes are back per Wisconsin Supreme Court - can they be trusted?
· Early voting – How is that managed?
· Badger Books device - Why use it? How is that protected from fraud? Includes demonstration of Badger Books
· “Why can’t we just hand-count all the ballots?” Reality check
The event will be videotaped. The video will be available from the League of Women Voters and Eye On Dunn County shortly after the event.

Things are never dull here.
- I'm painfully aware that the calendar page is really slow-loading, particularly on a cell phone. I'm considering alternatives for building the calendar, but it may take a while. In the meantime, the little featured events block on the front page is really well-behaved.
- I'm looking forward to our participation in the upcoming Election Integrity event with the League of Women Voters. I'm also looking forward to being at the Let's Paint The Town event on the 20th - we will be near the food court, come look for us. Get some free Eye On Dunn stuff.
- We are working on an arrangement with the Associated Press to carry their election results in November. This will make us your one-stop shop for election results, including national, state, and local elections.
