Madison – Rep. Clint Moses (R-Menomonie) expressed his opinions regarding Governor Evers’ budget request to the Wisconsin State Legislature on Wednesday night and issued the following statement:
“Governor Evers’ budget is shortsighted and not sustainable for the next biennium,” said Rep. Moses. “We want to spend the next several months hearing from Wisconsinites on what they are prioritizing, and plan to place our values in the 2025-27 budget.”
The state remains in a strong fiscal position because of the responsible budgeting decisions made over the last several years by the legislature. In fact, we currently hold the largest rainy day fund in state history totaling almost $2 billion.
“We in the Republican Assembly are committed to sending money back to taxpayers while investing in key government functions,” said Rep. Moses. “We will continue to advocate for our citizens, who know how to spend their money better than the government.”
Under state law, Governor Evers’ request has been introduced to the Joint Committee on
Finance, which is the state’s budget-writing committee. Be on the lookout for their upcoming listening sessions in Western Wisconsin, where they will be gathering citizen input on the budget.
“I am eager to hear from my constituents about the ideas that Governor Evers has presented to the legislature,” said Rep. Moses. “Please share your priorities with my office.”
