According to two press releases from the Dunn County Sheriff's office:
On July 19, 2025 approximately 9:25 PM, the Dunn County Communication Center receved a 911 call reporting a single vehicle accident on 960th St south of 1010th St in the Town of Springbrook. It was further reported that the vehicle was on fire and there was a lone occupant.
The Dunn County Sheriff's Office, Elk Mound Fire, Eau Claire Ambulance and Dunn County First Responders, responded to the scene. Upon arrival, Deputies located a 1961 Jeep in the ditch that had struck a tree. The fire was put out by bystanders and the damage from that was contained to only a tire. The vehicle had substantial damage and the operator was entrapped in the vehicle. He was found to be deceased upon arrival of First Respontlers and Deputies. The operator was a 36-year-old male from the Durand area. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Preliminary investigation showed the Jeep was traveling southbound on 960th St. The vehicle appears to have had a mechanical failure that caused the operator to lose control. The vehicle then entered the ditch on the northbound lane side of the road. The jeep partially rolled and struck a tree before coming to rest on its wheels.
The Dunn County Medical Examiner responded to the scene and pronounced the driver deceased.
The crash remains under investigation by the Dunn County Sheriff's Office and the Dunn County Medical Examiner's Office.
The victim of the accident has been identified as Jake Wagner.

On July 19, 2025, at approximately 9:27 PM, the Dunn County Communication Center received a 911 call reporting a head-on crash on STH 79 north of 790th Ave in the Town of Sherman. The caller reported that one of the vehicles had flames visible. A second caller advised that the driver of the passenger car was possibly deceased.
The Dunn County Sheriff's Office, Menomonie Fire Department, Ambulance, and Mayo 1 Helicopter responded to the scene. Upon arrival, deputies located a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado in the southbound ditch and a 2006 Pontiac G6 in the northbound ditch. The lone occupant of the Pontiac was a 36-year-old female from Boyceville. She was found to be entrapped in the vehicle and deceased. The lone occupant of the truck was transported by Mayo One to the hospital.
Preliminary investigation shows the truck was traveling southbound on STH 79 and the car was traveling northbound on STH 79. The car crossed the centerline and struck the truck head on.
The Dunn County Medical Examiner's office responded to the scene and pronounced the female deceased.
The crash remains under investigation by the Dunn County Sheriff s Office, WI State Patrol and the Durand County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The victim of the accident has been identified as Tonya Todd.
