Does God Exist? A Student Debate

Image

The UW-Stout Philosophy Club is hosting the first campus-wide debate in which two groups of 3 students come together to challenge ideas, sharpen their reasoning, and explore different perspectives. All students and community members are welcome to attend. Students will give prepared arguments in favor or against the existence of God, and will deliver those arguments in a moderated, set time format, leaving room for a Q&A section at the end.

Community Conversations - Immigration

The next Community Conversations is scheduled for Saturday, October 4th, from 12:30 to 2:30 pm at the Menomonie Public Library.

Our guest panelists are Erin Gaede and her husband, Adrian, from Madison, and John Rosenow from Cochrane, WI.

Erin is a PhD Student in Sociology at the University of Wisconsin.  Adrian works with the National Immigration Law Center.  John is the owner of Cowsmo Compost & Rosenholm Dairy, who is involved with Puentes/Bridges—an organization in southwest Wisconsin that supports immigrants.

Come join us as we ask, “Why do people want to immigrate?”,  “How does our country benefit from immigration?”, and “Why do some people oppose immigration?”.  If there is time, we will discuss Immigrant legislation including the Alien and Sedition Acts of 1798 that we have been hearing in the News for the last 8 months.

All are welcome to attend this conversation.

Community Conversations is a local nonpartisan group started in 2015 to discuss topics that affect our community. Presentations include speakers and videos with conversations afterward about issues that affect the local community and Western Wisconsin.
