The Heyde Center for the Arts is thrilled to host its first juried art show, Arrivals and Departures, running from September 5 to October 16. This exhibition will showcase an impressive collection of 2D and 3D artworks that explore the theme of arrivals and departures, featuring interpretations from talented artists across the state and beyond. Out of 214 submissions from 94 artists, 57 exceptional pieces have been selected by a distinguished panel of art professionals from outside the Chippewa Valley.

The highlight of the event will be the Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony on Sunday, September 8, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the artists and enjoy a presentation by the Show Judge, Barry Roal Carlsen, who will award $2,000 in prizes at 3:00 PM. The awards will be given for Best of Show, First, Second, and Third Places, along with three sponsored awards - the Valley Art Association Award. the Todd Boppel Memorial Award (from Brathol-Hostvet Studio), and the Beaver Creek Reserve Award. The public is warmly invited to join this celebration of artistic talent and creativity.

This remarkable show is made possible through the generous support of the exhibit's sponsors: 2 Roots Gallery, Eau Claire Life Drawing Group, Chippewa Valley Watercolor Artists, Udell Trust, Judy Paulson, Bush League Trivia Team, Brathol-Hostvet Studio, Elizabeth A. Breed Trust, Mike's Art & Design Supply, Caradori Pottery, Wildform Design, and Country Inn and Suites.

Why Attend the Artist Reception? It is a chance to meet some of the artists. It is always more interesting to engage with the creative minds behind the artwork, gain insights into their inspirations, and discuss their interpretations of the theme Arrivals and Departures. Plus, some of the artwork will be available for sale so making a connection with the artist makes whatever you may purchase more personal. Experience the excitement as the Show Judge, Barry Roal Carlsen, announces the winners and presents the awards that recognize the outstanding talent on display.
