We will be attempting to cover more of the city and county government meetings by reporting briefly on them and making recordings when possible of the new online meetings. This is a recording of the 5/4/2020 Menomonie CIty Council Meeting, which was held as a Zoom conference.
5A – proposed temporary trailer storage extensions for Stepping Stones – this is a temporary extension of 90 days. Passed by voice vote.
5B – proposed resolution to extend the parklet at the Duke and Dagger for another year. Approved by voice vote.
6A Proposed TID #12 sale of Lot 6 CSM 1994 and part of Lot 1 CSM 1269 and developer’s agreement to ELH Holdings, LLC – discussion and possible motion approving. Motion was made to approve the developers agreement. Passed by roll call vote unanimously.
6B Proposed agreement with Doar, Drill & Skow, S.C. for a two-year prosecution services contract – discussion and possible motion approving – Passed by roll call vote unanimously
6C Proposed 6-5-1 ordinance amendment eliminating through highway status at Elm Ave./Wilson Street and 9th Street East/14th Ave. East – discussion and possible ordinance adoptions – these were shared at the last meeting. These both involve putting in stop signs in the two areas. This ordinance was introduced and the first reading was waived by voice vote. The second reading was also waived by voice vote and the ordinance was adopted by voice vote.
6D Review of Main Street sidewalk replacement bids – discussion and possible motion of award This is the sidewalk at the Mabel Tainter, Post Office, and Silver Dollar blocks. Recommended approval of the low bid with Skidsteer Guy at $56,480. This would be replacing the stamped concrete with the same cobblestone concrete in place at Trimble Dental and Menomonie Market, which has been holding up better with the exposure to salt. In these areas the city will probably need to re-seal the concrete occasionally. This was approved contingent on bonding and insurance.
6E - Appointments to various Boards and Commissions including the Board of Review, Recreation Advisory, Tourism Commission, Historic Preservation and Board of Zoning Appeals - discussion and possible motions appointing – these re-appointments were all approved.
There were no budget transfers.
Mayor’s report – Ellsworth Creamery plans are still in process. Mayor made a proclamation in honor of Professional Municipal Clerks Appreciation. The mayor said that he has received concerns about businesses having to be closed during the Safer at Home period as well as concerns about opening back up too quickly.
The new license list was approved by voice vote.
There was no closed session in tonight’s meeting.
