Vice Presidental and Presidential hopefuls Tim Walz and Kamala Harris held a rally in Eau Claire today to a crowd of over 12,000 people at the Eau Claire Event District. We will have video of the event later tonight. People reported waiting in traffic for two hours and giving up before getting there. At around 11 AM police closed off the main approach to the venue, which resulted in people parking on the road and walking in for up to two miles.
The large crowd was upbeat and enjoying the event, even as it continued for several hours. Speakers included Governor Tony Evers, Secretary of State Sarah Godlewski, Governor Tony Evers, and many others.
These are some photos from the event.
Vice-President and Presidential candidate Kamala Harris will be visiting Eau Claire some time on Wednesday afternoon. Eye On Dunn County has applied for press credentials to cover the rally. We will have pictures and video later in the day. TTT
The Trump/Vance campaign has announced that J. D. Vance will be stopping in the same cities as Harris during her tour Tuesday and Wednesday. He will be meeting with media outlets on Tuesday at 1 PM at NMC-Wollard Inc. / Wollard International located at 2021 Traux Boulevard. Eye On Dunn County will likely not be able to attend the Vance press conference since we are committed to the Harris rally already.
As I noted in the video of the Vance rally today in Eau Claire, we did apply for press credentials for the event. We were not exactly denied - our request just stayed in pending state forever. I did note that almost all of the questions at the end came from TV media other than the New York Times and The Daily Mirror. So be it.
I am happy that may of you are using our on-line calendar of local events, but I am sure you share my frustration over how long it takes to load. We're working on a brand-new calendar application that is much faster but still lets us use the same calendar data in our database. The first pass at the new calendar system is installed. We will work on making it prettier soon.
Finally my continual reminder - we are trying to hire freelance reporters to cover more news in Dunn County. We have brought in one new freelancer, but would like a couple more. Please be in touch if you have any interest in writing for us, attending meetings, or have great ideas for new types of content we should pick up.
