On Tuesday, October 8, 2024 a wildfire was detected by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WI DNR) in the Bear Paw Semi-Primitive Area of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, east of the town of Mountain, WI. WI DNR, USDA-Forest Service, and local Volunteer Fire Department resources responded to the fire and started suppression activities.  The fire is located in between many rocky out cropping’s and it was difficult to get direct dozer line in.
