Wisconsin’s state superintendent of schools is once again demanding more money from the legislature. Superintendent Jill Underly yesterday sent a letter to the Joint Finance Committee, telling lawmakers they need to send her the 50 million-dollars for Wisconsin’s new literacy program. The money has been in limbo after Republican lawmakers approved it, but Governor Evers vetoed their plan to spend it. Lawmakers say they want the money spent on literacy, but Evers and Underly have said they have their own plans for the money.
