ACTION AGENDA

  1. Consider Appeal of Reconsideration Committee Decision (added 10/25/24) - A motion was made to uphold the ruling of the reconsideration committee and waa approved unanimously by the board.
  2. Action to Approve Adoption of 2024-25 Budget - More information is now available from the state on funding. The general fund has gone from a deficit of over $2million dollars to a small positive balance. State aid was 1.4 million dollars higher than budgeted, which will lower the tax rate and will not provide more funding to the school district. The mill rate is 5.60, which is lower than last uear's rate (5.60).  The budget was approved unanimously.
  3. Action to Approve Certification of 2024-25 Tax Levy - the tax levy was approved unanimously.
  4. Action to Approve Updated Health Insurance Premiums for 2025 - costs for the insurance have gone up slightly but staff now has a larger range of options (including incentives for being wise consumers). The insurance premiums were approved unanimously. 

DISCUSSION ITEMS/POLICY REVIEW

  1. Virtual Education Report - the number of full-time virtual students continues to decline. Part-time students have increased. This gives students a wider opportunity for classes than the district can provide in-house. 
  2. Quarterly Review of SDMA Work Plan - The Community Foundation will be partnering with the school district to administer funds for the Angel program. 
  3. Review MHS Course Offering Timeline for 2025-26
  4. Discuss Board Self-Evaluation
  5. Review Extracurricular Staff Contract Requests
  6. Items Related to Next Meeting Dates, Board Committees, and Reports
