Recommendations for Regular Board Meeting on May 12, 2025:

 

A.  Action to Approve the Consent Agenda, as presented:

 

1.  Minutes - That the board approves the following minutes, as presented:

            a) Regular Board Meeting of April 14, 2025; and

            b) Special Board Meeting of April 28, 2025;

 

2.  Financial Reports - That the board approves general fund checks in the amount of $2,411,763.60 and cash receipts in the amount of $116,746.67 for April 2025, as presented.

 

3.  Donations - That the board approves donations exceeding $1,000 for the month of April 2025, as presented:

• $1,000.00 donation from Culvers Art Night for Art Departments (classroom supplies)
• $2,636.51 donation from Wakanda PTO for grade-level field-trips.
• $7,430.00 in grants from Ann Marie Foundation:
  • $6,000.00 to purchase Orff Instruments for the MMS Music Department (secured by Tara Grubbe).
  • $1,200.00 to buy foot pedals for sewing machines in the FACS classroom at MMS (secured by Anna Kellander).

  • $230.00 to purchase Sonitum earphones for 2nd-grade classrooms at Wakanda Elementary School (secured by Deidre Tenn

       A. Action to Approve the SDMA Employee Handbook for 2025-26

The Employee Handbook changes were approved unanimously.

       B. Action to Approve Update to Policy 163.1, School Board Memberships

The membership list change was approved unanimously.

       C. Action to Approve the Transportation Contract for 2025-26

The transportation contract was approved unanimously.

   V. DISCUSSION ITEMS/POLICY REVIEW
       A. Discuss the Creation of the Downsville School Exploratory Committee

The committee will make a recommendation on the future use of Downsville Elementary by Jan 26.  The committee will meet monthly until January. 
       B. Review SDMA Progress on Act 20- Wisconsin’s Reading Law
       C. Discuss High School Engineering Classroom and Fab Lab Project

This program has received funding from 3M in a partnership.  3M was interested in an engineering lab and a fabrication lab. There will be new 3d printers, furniture, storage, wiring, and more - updated storage and ventilation, and a CNC Router. The project is underway. There will be a ribbon cutting next week.
