Murals in Menomonie held a kickoff event on June 27th at the Rassbach Museum. Murals in Menomonie is an ambitious plan to have 200 artists come to Menomonie to paint 13 murals around town. This will take place during a festival June 24-28, 2026.
The murals will be painted by a group called the Walldogs, who have conducted similar festivals in Plymouth, WI, Arcola, IL, Clio, IA, and several other cities. The theme of the murals will center around local history and requests are currently being taken from businesses to have murals painted on their buildings.
This is a community effort and is being sponsored by UW-Stout, Downtown Menomonie, Inc., Explore Menomonie, The Dunn County Historical Society, The City of Menomonie, The VIntage Sign Shop, and The Community Foundation of Dunn County.
The partners have a goal of raising $300,000 for the festival, and fundraising has begun. This will be a big festival that includes mural painting, community activities, music, food, and celebratory activities.
There is more information at the Explore Menomonie webpage for the project.
