Those of us living in the rural areas in the Chippewa Valley share one rural experience - going to the dump. I have lived here so long that I remember when it really was a dump, rather than a solid waste disposal facility. This is much better in all ways. And it really is true that I generally only run into friends at the dump, at the Fleet Farm, and at Menomonie Market. I live in rural Downsville, so the Downsville collection site is a familiar place to me.
One small change for all of us is that the hours for the Downsville disposal site are changing soon. There's nothing as disheartening as going to the disposal site with a load of stuff and discovering that it is closed. So - to keep that from happening, the new hours in Downsville are Wednesdays from 1-5 PM and Saturdays from 8 AM to noon. The new hours are shorter, and the Wednesday collection has moved from the morning to the afternoon. Take note. I am sure I will be in for at least one day of having a truck full of recycles and nowhere to go, but at least now you'll know how to avoid it.
