In his address today President Trump announced that the Jacksonville, FL portion of the GOP convention is canceled, and the only portions of the convention that remain will take place in Charlotte, NC as was originally planned. It will be a very reduced convention and will be primarily in some virtual format. According to the President "I will still do a convention speech in a different form, but we will not do a big, crowded convention".

The president then spoke in favor of in-person school starting since children become less ill from the disease.  It seems that the pandemic is too dangerous for a convention, but not too dangerous for in-person school. He admits that this decision should be in the hands of the parents, and that some districts may need to delay opening in-person "for a few weeks". The CDC will be providing new guidance for school opening today. Congress will provide 105 billion dollars for school opening in the upcoming stimulus bill.
