Over 50 people attended the Fair Maps Rally in Eau Claire, which was one of many such rallies across the state. The rallies were in support of developing fair maps and ending the gerrymandering in the maps which currently makes it nearly impossible for a Democrat to win in most of the districts in the state. The maps are currently being considered by the Wisconsin Supreme Court, which should return a decision on the maps soon. However the court has announced that it will make minimal changes to the maps that were  presented by the Republicans. There is also a lawsuit filed with the US Supreme Court by the Wisconsin Democrats asking that the maps be overturned.

Speakers at the rally included State Senator Jeff Smith, Dunn County Board representative Tim Lienau, and  Annemarie McClellan (appointed member of the governor’s People’s Map Commission and co-chair of the League of Women Voters of the Greater Chippewa Valley). The other co-chair of the local LWV Ellen Ochs served as the moderator.
