Paul Hecht Quintet: Chicago Composers

Pianist Paul Hecht brings long experience with the Chicago jazz scene to present an evening of music composed or inspired by Chicago players, with Pete James Johnson on drums, Jeremy Boettcher on bass, and featuring Michael Hudson-Casanova on tenor saxophone and Aidan Buck on trumpet.
The Chicago scene has incubated great American music for decades, and this evening's performance will showcase the ongoing flowering of jazz and jazz-related music that remains distinctive in the city, most importantly distinct from the more attention-getting scenes of New York and Los Angeles. Expect a mix of lyrical vulnerability, love of simple things, dazzling complexity, and hard-driving swing.
