Thousands of chickens in western Wisconsin need new homes. Volunteers are trying to give away about 30-thousand chickens that used to be a part of Pure Prairie Poultry’s flocks. The company disbanded recently, and that left farmers with thousands of chickens they were no longer going to be paid for. The folks at Pips ‘n; Chicks in the Chippewa Valley said there were originally 120-thousand chickens that needed to be moved. Now that number is much lower. Pips ‘n’ Chicks has a Facebook post with a number of local farms that have the chickens. They’re asking for a dollar-per-bird donation.
