An initial court date has been set for the suspect in the shooting death of a UW-Whitewater gymnast. Kara Welsh was shot to death on August 30th in an apartment near the UW-Whitewater campus. The 21-year-old was a management major and won a national championship in the vault exercise. Her boyfriend, 23-year-old Chad Richards, is facing charges of felony first-degree intentional homicide with use of a dangerous weapon. According to court records, an arraignment is set for November 8th at 2 p.m. at the Walworth County Judicial Center in Elkhorn.
