We know who died over the weekend in Prairie du Chien, but we don’t know why. Police yesterday identified the victim of Friday night’s stabbing. Investigators say 65-year-old Daniel Welsch died from ‘trauma caused by a sharp object.’ A suspect, 39-year-old Jessie Slaughter, is in custody in the case. Prairie du Chien Police say they two knew each other, but no one is saying how. Detectives are also silent about what led-up to the stabbing. Prosecutors are moving ahead with reckless homicide charges in the case, and Slaughter is being held on a quarter-million dollars bond.
