Dear SDMA Families and Staff,
Happy Thanksgiving! We've had a wonderful and productive fall season in the School District of the Menomonie Area. As a reminder, there will be no school next week during the Thanksgiving break, as noted on the 2025-26 District Calendar.
Community Support & Resources
As we enter the season of holiday giving, please keep the following important items in mind:
- Angel Fund Support: Please consider contributing to the SDMA Nutrition Angel Fund campaign. Your support help ensure all students have access to the nutrition they need throughout the school year.
- Community Holiday Resources: For those who may need assistance during the holidays, the SDMA Student Services Department has compiled an excellent inventory of local resources. This inventory is also posted on the SDMA Community Connections webpage.
DPI School Report Cards Success
We are proud to share outstanding news from the Department of Public Instruction's annual School Report Cards. All schools in the SDMA either met or exceeded expectations, showing terrific academic growth across the district! Congratulations to our students, families, teachers, and staff on a job well done! You can find more detailed information in this press release.
⚠️ Important Technology Update: Web Filter Bypass
We want to make you aware that some students have recently discovered a method to bypass the district’s web filter. The Technology Department is actively working with our filtering vendor, Deledao, to identify the cause and implement a permanent fix.
In the meantime, we want to remind students and families that intentionally bypassing the district’s web filter is a violation of our Acceptable Use of Internet & Technology Resources policy (362). Students found doing so will be held accountable in accordance with district policies and school guidelines. We appreciate your support in reinforcing appropriate and responsible technology use.
Post-Break Health & Attendance
We have a short and busy stretch—only three weeks of classes—between Thanksgiving Break and Winter Break. While student attendance has been good this year, we ask for your help in making attendance a top priority during this crucial time. With cold and flu season underway, please reinforce good hygiene habits to keep our community healthy: frequent hand washing, covering coughs (good respiratory hygiene), staying hydrated, and ensuring adequate rest.
Finally, good luck and safe hunting to everyone who will be heading out for Wisconsin's annual deer hunt.
Sincerely,
Joe Zydowsky
