CITY OF MENOMONIE COUNCIL MEETING 
CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS 7:00 PM Monday – October 7, 2024

AGENDA 

Pledge of Allegiance 

1. Roll Call & Special Recognitions 

Special recognitions that it is fire safety week - the mayor asks you to be careful with fire and to have smoke detectors. It is also White Cane Week and there is a resolution to follow the law with people with white canes. 

There was also a recognition of the work done in Wilson Park to put in the sidewalks and improve the seeding in the park. 

2. Approval of Minutes 

The meetings were approved by voice vote. 

3. Public Comments 

There were no comments that were on the agenda. 

4. New Business 

 

   a. Proposed labor agreement between the City of Menomonie and Local 1697 Firefighters Union for 2025-2026 – discussion and possible action. 

There is a 3% increase in pay. The agreement is in place on time so that there is a 2-year contract and will make It possible to budget for the changes in next year's budget. The agreement was approved unanimously by roll call. 

   b. Wakanda Waterpark 2024 Season Presentation – discussion only (no action). 

The full report is in the attached packet. Attendance was down this year because there were issues with the pool heater which made the pool cool on the cold days. It was never below the standards for temperature. 

   c. Historical Society NASA Moon Tree Presentation – discussion only (no action)

   d. Mayoral Appointments to Boards & Commissions – discussion and possible action 

      i. Dr. Richard Nagler to the Menomonie Public Library Board 

      ii. Tammy Simon to the Recreation Advisory Board 5

The appointments were approved by voice vote.

5. Budget Transfers 

There were budget transfers to fund a copying machine, electric chainsaws, and to fix one of the weather warning sirens. These were approved unanimously.

6. Mayor’s Report 

There was a large crowd for the homecoming event in Wilson Park. A lot of work is being done at the pool and the Bongey Drive improvements. 

7. Communications and Miscellaneous Business 

There will be a special meeting at 6 PM on the 21st to consider subsidies. In November there will be budget hearings to finalize the budget. The first meeting in November will likely be moved to Wednesday due to the election and the need of the clerks to have the council chamber on Monday. 

There was a reminder to get the absentee ballots in on time if you are voting absentee. 

Fall cleanup is coming up and will be on Facebook. It will be announced on Eye On Dunn County as well. 

8. Claims 

The revised claims list was approved unanimously by roll-call vote. 

9. Licenses 

   a. Normal license list – discussion and possible action. 

The revised license list was approved by voice vote.
