Wisconsin Conservation Voters and the League of Women Voters of the Greater Chippewa Valley held an action event on Oct. 28 at Zymurgy Brewery. The purpose of the meeting was to develop a strategy to convince the City of Menomonie to commit to a plan for 100% clean energy by 2050. Additionally, there is a hope to have a resolution from Dunn County.
Dr. Jim Boulter, a professor from UW-Eau Claire and a member of Citizens Climate Lobby spoke about the issues of climate change, and paths to making it stop. He was followed by Kate Beaton of Wisconsin Conservation Voters and a member of the Eau Claire City Council, who discussed action plans and how citizens of Dunn County can help.
The meeting was also attended by Menomonie Mayor Randy Knaack and Don Kuether from the Dunn County Board of Supervisors. Several community groups had tables at the event, including League of Women Voters, Citizens Climate Lobby, and Xcel Energy.
