The art of suminagashi (Japanese paper marbling), dates back to the Heian period of Japan (794-1185) and is the precursor of all other marbling techniques. Learn to marble paper with this technique of floating ink on water. Take home sheets of paper decorated with suminagashi for use in bookbinding and other paper arts.

An autumn favorite! We'll gather some leaves, paper, crayons and pencils and watch as the leaf designs seem to magically appear. You can use this leaf-rubbing art in other fall decor, accents and cards. We'll investigate the science of tree identifications as well.

In this Halloween STEAM challenge, students will use simple materials and the engineering design process to design and build a candy bucket for trick-or-treating. Then, they will test the strength of their buckets using Halloween candy!

Paper mâché pumpkins are a classic fall craft. They're easy to make and fun to make as a family. Paper mâché is a French term which translates to chewed paper and the process has been used for hundreds of years.
