Press release from the Eau Claire Police Department:
On July 25, 2024, at 5:07 p.m., the Eau Claire Police Department and Eau Claire Fire Rescue responded to a crash involving an SUV and motorcycle at the intersection of W. Clairemont Avenue and American Boulevard.
The preliminary investigation shows a motorcyclist was traveling westbound on W. Clairemont Avenue and collided with an SUV that was turning onto W. Clairemont Avenue from the frontage road. The motorcyclist, identified as 18-year-old Payton Leisz, died at the scene. The driver of the SUV was taken to the hospital for unknown injuries but is expected to recover.
The crash is still under investigation by the Eau Claire Police Department with the assistance of the Wisconsin State Patrol. At this time, there are no charges resulting from this crash.
