On Wednesday, Feb. 5, there were demonstrations across the country about the probably illegal actions by the Trump administration and Elon Musk. These protests drew large numbers of people and will probably continue to take place, considering the continual onslaught of presidential orders and takeovers of government computer systems by Musk's DOGE.

A smaller protest took place in Menomonie as approximately 40 people attended a rally set up by the Dunn County Democrats. It was a spirited group carrying signs and trying to attract the attention of those driving up and down Highway 25 past the Menomonie Public Library. Many of the drivers responded by waving and honking.

I spoke to several of the protesters, one of whom said, "It's important to generate energy around this". In general their goal was to increase awareness of what is going on in the government at the moment.

What laws is Elon Musk breaking since your article said this was ‘probably illegal’

Steve Hanson

Several of his actions have already been stopped in court. Many others are currently subject to litigation. Some of them seem to be direct violations of the constitution. It is very likely some of this will be declared illegal. The legal mechanisms of the country are slower and more deliberate than the President and Musk. This will take a while to shake out.
