The next Community Conversations is scheduled for Saturday, October 19, 2024, from 12:30- 2:30 PM at the Menomonie Public Library.

"Understanding the Federal Reserve System” is the topic of our next Community Conversation. This presentation will include basic information about the Federal Reserve System and the history of how it was established by a congressional act in 1913.

Our speakers panel will include Shawn Tyler, President and CEO of Citizen’s State Bank of Western Wisconsin, and Andrew Swanson, Stout Economics Professor.  Shawn and Andrew will help clarify information on the basic structure of the Federal Reserve and the 5 key functions of our federal banking system.

The book “The Lords of Easy Money” by reporter Christopher Leonard has been read by a few of us.  We can address some of the concerns expressed by Mr. Leonard if there is time at the end of our presentation.

All are welcome to attend this conversation.

Community Conversations is a local nonpartisan group started in 2015 to discuss topics that affect our community. Presentations include speakers and videos with conversations afterwards about issues that affect the local community and Western Wisconsin.
