As you have probably noticed, life on this web site has slowed somewhat the last few months. Those of you who know me personally are probably aware that we're dealing with serious family health issues at Cruiskeen Lawn, and that has made it difficult to get a lot of work done, much less make long-range plans.
Nonetheless, life goes on. Some changes are afoot, but change comes slowly. You may have noticed that all of the ads on the site have disappeared. I'm seriously re-thinking revenue models. The display ads are at the moment not performing well, and I've decided that at the moment we're better off ditching them for the time being. They will probably come back in a slightly different form later in the year.
I'm also doing some experimentation with re-designing the entire site, and building it on a newer version of Drupal while getting rid of the current distribution, which allowed me to build the site quickly when it started, but has in some other ways gotten in the way of doing interesting things. This will not happen any time soon, but is in the works for the future.
Let's talk about the future. This has largely been a single-person operation, and I am not certain it will be able to survive as such. I had initially seen this as a community project, but engaging the community in a serious way has proved difficult. I would like to see that change, and have the community contribute through contributions of content, financial support, and moral support. I'll be explaining some ways you can help out in the near future.
