Lots of site improvements are going on at Wis.community for the new year. The site now has a membership option, where you can voluntarily make a contribution to help us grow.  There are memberships starting at $10 for an individual - currently the only perk on the site is that members of any type will have most of the ads on the site disappear when they are logged in. More perks are coming, including some nice additions for members who are nonprofits or businesses.

Speaking of which, I am going to be going to the Wisconsin Local Food Network conference in La Crosse next week, where I will be doing a presentation on Wis.community and how it can be helpful to the local food movement. We are currently working on a partnership with WLFN - more news on that later.

Last of the new things I'd like to talk about today is an exciting project that we are working on called The Wisconsin Channel. The Wisconsin Channel will be a portion of this site that will contain community-contributed video from around the state, and will also be reflected in a Roku channel so people can stream the video to their televisions. This is a future feature, which will probably happen some time in the spring if all goes well.

I'm looking forward to any ideas that people may have about this - please comment here (you'll need to create a login on the site to comment) or use the contact form to drop us a line.
