The School District of the Menomonie Area is looking for volunteers to serve on the Reconsideration Committee from September 1, 2024- May 31, 2025. Please see the posting below for more information.

The Menomonie Area School District is pleased to announce the opportunity to serve on the SDMA Reconsideration Committee. This is a volunteer position with duties based on SDMA Policy 361. 

The term of the reconsideration committee appointment will be from September 1, 2024-May 31, 2025. The committee will meet as necessary to review any instances where objections to instructional materials used in the school district cannot be resolved at the building level. The committee typically meets no more than once per school semester. 

Anyone wishing to be considered for an appointment to the SDMA Reconsideration Committee should submit a letter of application to District Administrator Joe Zydowsky ([email protected]) by 4:00 pm on Friday, May 17, 2024. The letter should include a listing of any previous experiences relevant to serving on the committee, reasons for interest in the appointment, and a description of when the applicant may generally be available for meetings.

This is a very important committee.  The school district needs folks with open minds to rationally consider requests for banning books from our schools.
