The grandson of the infamous Victor Frankenstein, Frederick Frankenstein (pronounced Fronk-en-steen) inherits his family's estate in Transylvania. With the help of a hunchbacked sidekick, Igor (pronounced Eye-gore), and a leggy lab assistant, Inga (pronounced normally), Frederick finds himself in the mad scientist shoes of his ancestors. It's alive! he exclaims as he brings to life a creature to rival his grandfather's. Eventually, of course, the monster escapes, and hilarity continuously abounds.

VITAMIN STRING QUARTET: THE MUSIC OF TAYLOR SWIFT, BRIDGERTON, AND BEYOND

SUN, 26 OCT 2025 at 04:00PM CDT
Doors Open: 03:30PM

OnSale: Fri, 21 Mar 2025 at 10:00AM CDT
Announcement: Tue, 18 Mar 2025 at 11:00AM CDT

Long before Bridgerton broke the Netflix algorithm, Vitamin String Quartet (VSQ) had helped establish classical crossover as a genuine force in contemporary music. Fresh off high-profile placements in Seasons 1 and 2 of the aforementioned streaming smash, VSQ has reached a mainstream, global audience (Variety) and charmed the world with their classical covers (Nylon). New York Observer wrote, VSQ's atmospheric hits have made classical versions of pop music cool. On their latest tour, VSQ have created fresh arrangements of the cultural phenomenon that is Taylor Swift, performing spellbinding and innovative renditions of Swift's music, alongside familiar hits from Billie Eilish, BTS, Bridgerton, The Weeknd to Daft Punk. VSQ are one of the most popular string ensembles in the world with over 2 billion streams and seven albums charting on both Billboard Classical and Classical Crossover charts.

Leif Enger | Author Leif Enger discusses I Cheerfully Refuse

REGISTER HERE:
https://lephillips.librarycalendar.com/event/leif-enger-author-leif-eng…

Bestselling, award-winning novelist, Leif Enger, a story-teller of great humanity and huge heart (Minneapolis Star Tribune), will discuss his most recent novel, I Cheerfully Refuse.

Set in a not-too-distant America roiled by climate change and societal collapse, I Cheerfully Refuse is the tale of a bereaved and pursued musician, the affable Rainy, who sets sail across Lake Superior in search of his departed, bookseller wife. The Gulliver-like challenges of life on a turbulent sea grow into something wide and wild, sweeping up friends and foes alike in its strengthening wake. I Cheerfully Refuse is a harrowing nautical tale buoyed by beauty and unexpected kindness--a symphony against despair and a rallying cry for the future.

About the Author

LEIF ENGER grew up in Osakis, Minnesota, and worked as a reporter for Minnesota Public Radio before writing his bestselling debut novel Peace Like a River, which won the Booksense Award for Fiction and was named one of the Year's Best Books by Time Magazine and the Los Angeles Times. His second novel, So Brave, Young, and Handsome, was also a national bestseller. It was a Midwest Booksellers Honor Book, and won the High Plains Book Award for Fiction. His third novel Virgil Wander was longlisted for the Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Fiction, and was named a best book of the year by Amazon, Library Journal, Bookpage, and Chicago Public Library. He lives with his wife in Duluth, MN.
