GUEST ARTIST: Ilana Stetapen
(First Associate Concertmaster, Thora M. Vervoren First Associate Concertmaster Chair, First Violin)

Since her solo orchestral debut at age 15, Ilana Setapen has been flourishing as a violinist with a powerful and original voice. She is hailed by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel as a violinist with a sparkling sound and the kind of control that puts an audience completely at ease. She is currently the First Associate Concertmaster of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra.

In recent seasons Setapen has had solo performances with the Milwaukee Symphony, Festival City Symphony, and the Amarillo Symphony, among others. Since winning her job in the Milwaukee Symphony in 2009, she has been offered a solo every season. She
also held the Assistant Concertmaster position of the Grant Park Music Festival Orchestra in Chicago for 6 years and is a favorite guest concertmaster with the Chicago Philharmonic. In recent summers she has performed at the Olympic Music Festival on Bainbridge Island and the Lakes Area Music Festival in Brainerd, Minnesota. She has also taught and performed as faculty at Center Stage Strings at the University of Michigan and the Luzerne Music Center summer festival in Lake Luzerne, New York.

At the age of 21, Setapen won the concertmaster position of the Riverside Philharmonic in Los Angeles. She has also held concertmaster positions with the Juilliard Orchestra, the Colburn Orchestra, the American Youth Symphony, the National Repertory Orchestra, and the USC Thornton Symphony.

Also a committed chamber musician, Setapen is in demand as a collaborator throughout the midwest. She is a frequent guest on the Frankly Music Series, and she performs with colleague Margot Schwartz in the duo Bowing Rogue. Her talent has led her to collaborations with such distinguished artists as Ron Leonard, Lynn Harrell, Toby Appel, Cynthia Phelps, Joseph Kalichstein, Robert DeMaine, Paul Coletti, the Fine Arts Quartet, Stefan Hersh, David Geber, and Joan Tower. Solo and chamber music performances have brought her abroad to China, France, Brazil, Holland, England, Monaco, and Italy.

Setapen grew up in Amarillo, Texas. She comes from a musical family: her father is a conductor and her first violin teacher was her mother, Carol. She was a student of Robert Lipsett both at the University of Southern California and at the Colburn Conservatory. She received her Master of Music Degree from the Juilliard School as a student of Donald Weilerstein and Ronald Copes. Also a dedicated educator, she teaches privately as well as at the successful Advanced Chamber Music Institute at the Wisconsin
Conservatory. In her spare time Setapen enjoys spending time with her husband and young son, cooking, and swing dancing.

Sourdough Class with Kitchen Technique

Back by popular demand! Kitchen Techniques sourdough bread class offers an immersive, refined experience where participants explore the art of creating artisanal sourdough from start to finish. The class begins with an introduction to the foundational principles of sourdough, including the science of wild fermentation, the role of natural levains, and the importance of using premium, organic flours and grains. Under the guidance of experienced Chef John Bender, participants learn to cultivate their own sourdough starter, understanding the subtle balance of hydration, temperature, and feeding that fosters a healthy, active culture. The class progresses to the hands-on process of mixing, kneading, and folding the dough, with a focus on developing gluten structure and achieving the perfect texture. Students also learn the crucial steps of bulk fermentation and shaping, gaining insight into timing, dough handling, and creating the perfect rise. The class delves into scoring techniques, allowing participants to create visually stunning, signature patterns on the bread's crust. Throughout the class, there's an emphasis on artisan techniques, with tips for achieving a golden, crispy crust and a soft, flavorful crumb. By the end of the class, participants will leave with the skills and knowledge to bake their own high-quality sourdough loaves at home, elevating their baking to an artisanal level.

Class size is limited. Doors open at 5:30 pm, class begins at 6:00. Beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase.

Chicken Chat

Norm L Mann, a mayor who cares about normal citizens because I am a normal citizen.
Due to SNAP cutbacks, I know a lot of us normal citizens are struggling for food right now while our town leaders stay silent. This is not acceptable to me or Menomonie Alterperson Matthew Crowe. We cannot rest while people in our town go hungry and have decided to do something actively about it.
-
Therefore we invite you all, normal citizens of Menomonie, to join us on November 7th at 4:30 in Wilson Park for CHICKEN CHAT.
REAL CHICKEN AND REAL SOLUTIONS :
I will be eating a whole rotisserie chicken with my dear friend Matt Crowe and will have a table set up so Menomonie residents can come share their problems. Together we will try and find normal solutions for normal people.
I may not have the answers, but I'll have a warm meal (chicken nuggets) and a listening ear. Garenteed.

**CANCELED** Toxic No More: Detox Through Food Alone Class

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELED, TICKET HOLDERS HAVE BEEN ISSUED A REFUND.

Your home should be your safe place--but what if it's quietly working against your health? The air you breathe, the water damage you can't see, even the everyday products under your sink can all play a role in how you feel--whether that's energized, clear-headed, and strong, or tired, foggy, and inflamed.

In this class, functional nutritionist and Root Level Living founder Kali Storm shares her story of rebuilding health after mold illness and reveals how what we eat, breathe, and live in every day impacts far more than we realize.

This class isn't just for those struggling with chronic symptoms--it's for every family who wants to feel their best and protect their home. You'll learn:

Why a healthy home is the foundation of a healthy body--for kids, adults, and aging parents alike.
The three pillars of resilience: safe environment, nourishing food, and a calm nervous system.
How mold, moisture, and indoor toxins can quietly chip away at energy, mood, and immune health (and what to look for before it becomes a problem).
Simple, practical, and affordable steps anyone can take--whether you rent, own, or are building a new home.

This isn't about fear--it's about empowerment. By the end of this class, you'll walk away with knowledge, hope, and practical tools to create a home that supports healing, growth, and long-term health for everyone who lives in it.
