It's Dotters Books' FIRST EVER horror event!
Christopher A. Micklos, a Madison-based author and filmmaker, is coming to Dotters Books to talk about his debut novel, TICK TOWN.
TICK TOWN is a fun, fast-paced pulp horror adventure about a rural Wisconsin tourist town that becomes the feeding ground for a band of giant, mutant ticks. Told in a breezy, cinematic style and inspired by the b-movies of the 1950's and the pulp horror paperbacks and comics of the 1970's and 1980's, it blends suspense, playful gore, and adventure.
Join us if you dare!

Growing up in South Carolina, Mae Simpson remembers her mother wearing out the records of Tina Turner and Patsy Cline. You can hear their echo in the music of the Minneapolis-based artist. Turner can be felt in Simpson's fiery soulful voice, stage energy, and rock and soul feel on songs like Tryna be Right and Why. The timeless lyricism of Cline finds its home in nostalgic ballads like Cap Guns and Monsters.
Simpson has opened for acts including Dermot Kennedy, Grace Potter, Karl Denson's Tiny Universe, Robert Clay, Ike Reilly, Langhorn Slim, RubbleBucket, and Pert Near Sandstone. She has performed multiple times on the iconic First Avenue main room, The Fillmore in Minneapolis, the Basilica Block Party, Live On King Street in Madison, Wisconsin, and the Blue Ox Music Festival. In 2024 the song Cap Guns was chosen as a finalist in the Americana category of the International Songwriting Competition. That 2023 single was inducted into Minnesota Public Radio 89.3 The Current's Chart Show Hall of Fame after spending 10 weeks on the Chart, as well as Cap Guns being a finalist on the International Songwriting Competition 2024.
It's impossible to stand still during a Mae Simpson Music set. Simpson's raspy, dynamic voice is larger than life -- but not as large as her uncontainable energy that radiates from the stage. - Colleen Cowie (Minneapolis Public Radio)
Keep an eye out for Mae Simpson - you'll be seeing a lot more of them. - Markus Akre (Twin Cities Media)
As Simpson continues to pave her way through the music industry and leave her mark on the renowned Twin Cities music scene, she is carrying this sentiment with her and inspiring other women to lead the way. - Kassidy Tarala (Lavender Magazine)

We are planning on having hot chocolate and if there's any tap beer left, it'll be half price! 🍺
As always, the other fun and games will continue, the campfire will be hot and the scenery gorgeous (especially if you're here).🍁
Farm store sales will be happening too, stay tuned or be sure to check it out (and help us eat up all that ice cream!).
This will be the LAST Burger Night of the 2025 season though, no more pop-ups. We are planning a volunteer fall work day for Sunday, Oct 19th if you want to come help tuck everything away for the (gosh darn) winter. If the weather is bad, we might move it to November though.

On stage, Tim is known for his storytelling, acoustic instrumentation, and poignant reflections on family, place, and contemporary life.
Jon Loomis is professor emeritus of creative writing at UWEC, and a widely published poet and novelist. He also co-fronts Eau Claire's deep fried, fit to be tied, large and in charge and bad to the bone blues-rock-etc cover band, The Flaming Doublewides. His debut album, The King of Good Intentions, was released on October 4th, 2025.
