Benjamin Hinz, Eau Claire's loudest son, kicks off the first ever artist in residence program this October in the back room of The Plus, known as The Venue (209 S Graham Avenue). Each week will bring something new to the table. The performances will feature audio and visual material, including music, short films, animation, and comics - showcasing the work of one of Eau Claire's most talented artists, his friends and his collaborators.

Hinz says, I'm really excited for this opportunity - it's honestly a dream come true. We've been talking about it since 2020, and we're finally making it happen.

I'm going to be collaborating with some of my greatest inspirations. Jon Mueller is a transcendent percussionist. Josh Ingersoll is my favorite lyricist. Dave Power is an astonishing improviser, and Drew Christopherson (Policia) is my cousin.

Join Benjamin and his comrades every Saturday night, all October long in The Venue - doors will open at 9pm each Saturday. The final night (October 25th) will feature a midnight screening of George Romero's Night Of The Living Dead.

With Maryland Opera, he performed excerpts from Werther and Faust, and he also covered Calaf at OperaDelaware. He was heard in concert with The Phoenix Symphony as tenor soloist for both a Holiday Pops concert and Handel's Mesías (Messiah in Spanish).

During the 2022-2023 season, Mr. Suarez made his Off-Broadway debut in Kate Tarker's world premiere play Montag at Soho Rep and joined OperaDelaware, The Carolina Philharmonic, Heartbeat Opera, Penn Square Opera, and Maryland Opera for concert and gala performances. He also returned to New Jersey Festival Orchestra to sing Rinuccio (Gianni Schicchi), covered Apollo (Strauss's Daphne) with American Symphony Orchestra at Carnegie Hall, sang Luigi (Il tabarro) with On Site Opera, and sang Turiddu (Cavalleria rusticana) with Lyric Opera of the North.
