Fabulous Florals & Fine Art returns to the James W. Hansen Gallery May 15 through 18, 2025, for a four-day celebration of spring through stunning combinations of floral design and visual art. This unique exhibit pairs original works by regional artists with imaginative floral interpretations created by local florists, transforming the gallery into a vibrant, living display. The public is invited to explore the gallery during regular these extended gallery hours:

Thursday Noon-7pm
Friday 10am-7pm, Reception 5pm to 7pm
Saturday 9am-8pm
Sunday 2-7:30pm

A special reception will take place on Friday, May 16, from 5 to 7 p.m., offering a festive social hour where guests can meet the artists and florists, engage in conversations about the creative process, and cast their votes for their favorite pairings.

Admission is free, and all ages are welcome. Public voting will be open during the exhibit, with winners announced after the show closes on Sunday, May 18. Don't miss this once-a-year opportunity to experience fine art and floral design in full bloom--just be sure to visit before the flowers fade.

A special Mother's Day performance by Jennifer Lohmann, creator of Imprinting Intervals, is an accomplished collaborative keyboardist and educator based in Eau Claire, WI. She teaches at UW-Stout and maintains an independent music studio. With degrees in Collaborative Piano and History, she regularly performs on both piano and harpsichord. Her work explores historical tuning system and performance practices, bringing depth and authenticity to every performance.

Good Evening families! Frans and I will be offering another educational opportunity for students and families on Saturday, May 10th, at the Eau Claire Public Library! We call it, Mission: Floatable!

- Why does a rock sink in water? Water is pretty heavy!
- Does metal sink? If so, why do we make boats out of it?
- Does wood float? If so, does it all float the same?
- Can you make your own boat out of metal? If so, how much can it
hold?

We'll explore all these topics AND MORE! We will meet at Phoenix Park, pick out our favorite rocks from the river's edge (we'll need them for class!), then hike to the library! There, we'll start our journey into why some things float and some things don't! If you're looking for a way to engage your students in hands-on learning that allows them to understand their surroundings better, we think this is a great opportunity! Please join us! We feel this is age appropriate from elementary to early high school.

This is a great way to engage in quality education, have fun with each other, as well as meet and work with new people!

DCHS is proactively addressing pet safety by hosting a one-day, low-cost Pet Microchipping Event. This initiative aims to increase the chances of reuniting lost and missing pets with their owners quickly. While microchips typically range from $35 to $50 at shelters and vet clinics across the country, DCHS is offering them at the reduced rate of only $10 per pet for this special one-day event.

Microchips are a simple, effective way for animal shelters and veterinary clinics to identify where your pet belongs. Each microchip is as small as a grain of rice, so your pet won't know it's there, but we'll always know where home is.

Please remember to bring your dog on a leash and your cat in a carrier.
