Creepy Creature Double Feature

Join us Halloween night for a double dose of horror movies.

First will be the classic Night of the Living Dead (1968) that follows seven people trapped in a farmhouse under assault by reanimated corpses.

Our second scary feature is Scream (1996) -- a year after the murder of her mother, a teenage girl is terrorized by a masked killer who targets her and her friends by using scary movies as part of a deadly game.

We'll present a brief history of horror movies -- their legacy, and why they have existed as long as movies have (the first horror movie dates back to 1896!)

Cost: $10 includes both movies, and popcorn, generously provided by CEC Menomonie 7 Theatre. Pop and water will be available for purchase.

Note: this is an alcohol-free Halloween event.

Menomonie Transportation is sponsoring a shuttle for the movie night should you need it:

* The shuttle will leave the bus loading area between the student center and the Stout library at 5:30 p.m.
* They'll stop at the CVS parking lot next
* They'll drop off riders at about 5:50 p.m. at the museum.
* At the end of the night, the shuttle will make the same two drops on the way back

There will be an intermission between films. We have chairs, but feel free to bring a comfortable lawn chair with you if you prefer.

Due to the content, audience is limited to age 18+.

To pre-purchase: http://tickets:https://www.zeffy.com/ticketing/308c0e5a-634b-4dd3-89f9-…

Or purchase at the door.

A minor Inconvenience Release Party

Saturday October 12, 11am-2pm. Chelsea Jean's book A minor Inconvenience will be released on October 10, so we're celebrating. She'll have books for sale and signing. I bet she'll read some if we ask. And of course some treats.

Book Blurb:
At 30 years old, Murphie has everything she thinks she wants. A steady job, a handsome boyfriend, the best friend you could ask for, and her lovable dog. She isn't ready for a minor inconvenience to be thrown her way. She is determined to make her relationship work and not get distracted by Gavin's thick arms, dimpled smile, and good heart; especially because she is his boss.
22-year-old Gavin is a senior in college with plans to attend veterinarian grad school in Scotland. And even though she has a boyfriend, he can't keep his eyes or thoughts off of Murphie--her flowing auburn hair and the freckles covering her nose and arms. He thinks she is the funniest and sexiest woman he's ever met. She thinks he's too young.
Can Murphie keep Gavin in the friend zone when he is determined to become so much more?
Bio:
Chelsea has wanted to be an author since high school but after taking a senior-level writing class as a freshmen in college, she felt extremely inadequate. 15+ years later, inspired by other local authors, she finally committed to finishing her first novel.
She lives in Wisconsin with her family on a hobby farm. They currently have dogs, goats, ducks, bunnies, and chickens. They also have a small orchard with apples, pears, cherries, and plums, and plant a garden every year.
