Lifetime musician and writer, Irie, brings her passionate vocals and her lyrical style together to forage a blend of indie pop/rock ballads. Born as Irelyn Ulrich in Madison, Wisconsin, she was thrown into a life of creative thinking from a young age. The daughter of a Creative Writer and English Professor, Irie was raised reading 10 books a night before bed, and her exposure to outside the box thinking from a young age set the stage for her future career as a musician. Inspired by the likes of music icons like Sinead O'Connor and Alanis Morissette as well as more recent stars such as Renee Rapp and Maggie Rogers, Irie never stops writing music. When she isn't playing music with her friends or waiting tables at The Lakely, she is hunkered down in her living room spinning words and melodies into the perfect arrangement. Studying at UWEC to earn her degree in recording arts and songwriting, she is excited to see where this long and winding road of expression takes her.
Our Kickoff Potluck will be on Wednesday, September 3rd from 5:00-6:30 in the UUC Social Hall. We will have our first rehearsal afterward in the Sanctuary from 6:30-8.

ABOUT THE SHOW
The Punchline Punchout is a one of a kind comedy showcase. Comedians will have just ONE DAY to write brand new jokes based on a suggestion made by hosts Lucy Zarns and Trevor Anderson. This writing and performing challenge will shake down in three rounds with two comedians going head to head on the same topic. A very funny featured comic will close out the show while winners are determined. You won't want to miss this special presentation featuring some of the Twin Cities' top comics coming to take on Eau Claire's local legends on their home turf!

Denny Menter is an experienced acoustic, electric and bass guitarist from Eau Claire, WI.
Having played guitar since he was 10 years old, his early influences of Clapton, Hendrix, Van Halen and the Allman Brothers have evolved to include more modern artists and genres.
In addition to playing with area groups and getting involved in music projects, he has recently branched on his own to enjoy the intimacy of live acoustic music.
Kitchen Techniques sourdough bread class offers an immersive, refined experience where participants explore the art of creating artisanal sourdough from start to finish. The class begins with an introduction to the foundational principles of sourdough, including the science of wild fermentation, the role of natural levains, and the importance of using premium, organic flours and grains. Under the guidance of experienced Chef John Bender, participants learn to cultivate their own sourdough starter, understanding the subtle balance of hydration, temperature, and feeding that fosters a healthy, active culture. The class progresses to the hands-on process of mixing, kneading, and folding the dough, with a focus on developing gluten structure and achieving the perfect texture. Students also learn the crucial steps of bulk fermentation and shaping, gaining insight into timing, dough handling, and creating the perfect rise. The class delves into scoring techniques, allowing participants to create visually stunning, signature patterns on the bread's crust. Throughout the class, there's an emphasis on artisan techniques, with tips for achieving a golden, crispy crust and a soft, flavorful crumb. By the end of the class, participants will leave with the skills and knowledge to bake their own high-quality sourdough loaves at home, elevating their baking to an artisanal level.
Class size is limited. Doors open at 5:30 pm, class begins at 6:00. Beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase.

Hannah Belmont is a Chicago comedian who performs regularly at Zanies, the Laugh Factory, the Comedy Bar, the Comedy Vault, Hilarities, the Lincoln Lodge, Second City, and many more clubs around the Midwest.
She has opened for Jeremiah Watkins, Chris Franjola, Mekki Leeper, Sean Donnelly, Dov Davidoff, and many more. She has performed in several festivals, including Let's Fest, Rubber City Comedy Festival, Cleveland Comedy Festival, and Sixth City Comedy Festival. Hannah is also a satire writer and her work has appears in the publications The Haven and Robot Butt.

Over decades as one half of the pioneering band Low, Alan Sparhawk and his wife and lifelong creative partner Mimi Parker explored the force of powerful, gentle places by weaving together layering sounds, production, and emotion. Following Parker's passing in 2022, fellow Duluth, Minnesota musicians Trampled by Turtles invited Sparhawk to join them on tour, and thus gave him a space to be surrounded by friends. Occasionally, he would join them onstage. Meanwhile, he was working on his first solo material, while playing around Minnesota with his son Cyrus in Derecho Rhythm Section, a funk band that also frequently features his daughter Hollis on vocals. And in Fall 2024, he released his first solo album, a haunting batch of mostly electronic anthems and éloges called White Roses, My God. Pitchfork wondered out loud how something so blown out, staticky, inhuman could simultaneously elicit freedom and spiritual necessity, a combination that the last Low releases had been developing already. Touring in support of White Roses, Sparhawk and band widened that same frame to incorporate mirthful soul, drones and Crazy Horse-like shredding, along with the unfiltered vocal majesty fans had long come to expect. With his follow-up album, veritably titled With Trampled by Turtles, Sparhawk's guitar work is once again at the forefront, the songs still beamed from a unique inner sanctum of one, then reshaped in full collaboration with the band. Performing new solo material to a dedicated fan base around the world, collaboration fits his exemplary work ethic, which is fueled by his ceaseless need for reinvention. Sparhawk's music is, at any given moment, very now.

The triathlon includes a 3.2 mile trail run, 11 mile bike ride, and 3.5 mile kayak with the race beginning and ending at Loopy's Bar and Grill. Participants can compete individually or form teams for the triathlon. All skill levels, ages, and families are welcome to participate! Even if you just want to take a leisurely walk for the 5K, you can do that! All proceeds benefit the Lori Kleich Endowment Fund for natural & alternative cancer care for mind, body & soul.
